The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has arrested a 31-year-old man, Destiny Godwin George, for allegedly stealing a bundle of iron rods in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
According to a statement by the State Commander of Corps, Commander Dr. Soji Ganzallo, released through the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC. Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the arrest occurred during a routine patrol on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m.
Commander Ganzallo explained that the Ijebu Zonal Command surveillance team, led by Zonal Commander DCC Yemi Odukoya Ijaoba, spotted the suspect along Ilado-Ikofa, Ogbo, carrying a bundle of iron rods suspiciously. The team stopped to question him after observing his uneasy behavior.
The suspect, a resident of Ikoto, Oke-Owa, Ijebu-Ode, reportedly gave conflicting explanations about the items’ ownership. This prompted the officers to detain him for further investigation.

George confessed to stealing the iron rods from a building at Ilado-Ikofa, Ogbo, close to where he was apprehended. He later led the patrol team to the house, where the rightful owner confirmed the stolen property.
Commending the team’s swift response, Commander Ganzallo praised the Zonal Commander and his officers for their vigilance and professionalism.
“This is a reminder that community safety requires the cooperation of residents,” Ganzallo said.
“Everyone should stay alert and report suspicious activities to ensure quick response in times of distress.”
The suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Division, Ijebu-Ode, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
