The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (Ogun State So-Safe Corps), are proud to serve as your grassroots security partners. Since our inception, we’ve worked tirelessly alongside the Nigeria Police Force, other security agencies, and your community leaders to keep our towns, villages, and highways safe from threats like robbery, cultism, and kidnapping. But security is a team effort and that team includes YOU. Here are practical tips from us to help you protect yourself, your family, and your neighborhood.
Stay Vigilant, Day and Night
Crime doesn’t sleep, and neither should your awareness. Keep an eye out for anything unusual; strangers loitering near your home, unfamiliar vehicles parked for too long, or odd noises at night. In places like Abeokuta, Ilaro, and Sagamu, we’ve noticed criminals often scout targets before striking. Don’t ignore your instincts; if something feels off, it probably is. Lock doors and gates at all times, especially at night. Report suspicious activity to us immediately via our emergency lines.

Know Your Neighbors
A tight-knit community is a safe community. Get to know the people living around you—your neighbors, shop owners, and even okada riders. Criminals thrive where people are disconnected. In our operations, like the 2025 arrest of robbers in Ipokia, tips from familiar faces made all the difference. Exchange phone numbers with trusted neighbors and form small watch groups to keep your street alert.
Don’t Flash Wealth
Ogun State is a land of hardworking people, but flaunting cash, jewelry, or gadgets can attract the wrong attention. Robbers and pickpockets target those who stand out, especially in busy markets like Lafenwa or Kuto. Keep valuables hidden when you’re out. Avoid counting money in public or posting expensive purchases online, as criminals are on social media too.
Secure Your Home and Business
A locked door is your first line of defense. Many break-ins we’ve responded to, from Ijebu-Ode to Ota, could’ve been prevented with basic precautions. Rural farmers, we’re talking to you too; cattle rustling is on the rise. Use strong padlocks, install burglary-proof windows, and keep a light on at night. Farmers, mark your livestock and lock sheds securely.
Report to Ogun State So-Safe Corps/the Police, Don’t Confront
If you see a crime in progress; say, a cult clash or theft, don’t play hero. Our officers are trained to handle these situations and your safety comes first. Make sure Call our 24/7 hotlines or alert your local So-Safe divisional office. Give us clear details; where, when, and what you saw, so we can act fast.
Protect Your Kids from Cultism
Cultism is a growing menace, creeping into schools and even artisan groups across Ogun State. We’ve arrested dozens of suspects, but prevention starts at home. Watch for signs in your children; secretive behavior, strange tattoos, or new friends you don’t recognize. Talk to your children about the dangers of cultism and tell us if you suspect recruiters are targeting your area. we’ll step in.
Travel Smart
Highways like Lagos-Ibadan and Sagamu-Benin are lifelines, but they’re also hotspots for bandits. We patrol these routes daily, but you can help us by staying cautious. Avoid night travel when possible. Share your plans only with trusted people, and call us if you spot trouble on the road.
Be Ogun State So-Safe Corps’ Eyes and Ears
You know your community better than anyone. That odd group meeting behind the mosque, or the abandoned bag near the motor park; little clues can stop big crimes. Our successes often start with your tips. You can drop anonymous reports via our hotlines or visit any So-Safe office when you notice something. No tip is too small.
Prepare for Emergencies
Floods, fires, or sudden unrest can strike anywhere, from urban Ado-Odo to rural Imeko. Having a plan keeps you safe when chaos hits. Keep emergency numbers handy (ours included!), store water and food, and know your nearest safe spot; like a school or church.
Trust Ogun State So-Safe Corps to Serve You
We’re here for you, day and night. Whether it’s a robbery in Remo or a kidnap attempt in Egba, our rapid response teams are ready. But we need your trust and cooperation to succeed. Together, we’ve made Ogun State tougher for criminals, let’s keep it that way. Reach out to us anytime. Our doors are open, and our officers are your neighbors, not strangers.
