Stay Vigilant, Day and Night: So-Safe Corps’ Fight for Ogun State’s Safety in 2025
By ACC Moruf Yusuf, Director of Information and Public Relations, on behalf of the State Commander and the Ogun State So-Safe Corps
April 1, 2025

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) stands firm in 2025, protecting Ogun State from crime and its perpetrators. We work hand in hand with the Nigeria Police Force, other sister agencies, and you, the people, to stop thieves, robbers, and worse from penetrating the very core of our communities. From January to now, your support and cooperation has led us to victories. In this editorial, we intimate you with our story of hard work, while making a clear call; stay vigilant, day and night.

January 2025 started with a series of activities on our end, keeping our end of the bargain of commitment we have made with you, our people. We frustrated criminal efforts, made arrests (and transferred the same to relevant agencies), and settled domestic and communal disputes.
Earlier, on the 10th, seven men; Tasir Muritala, Abdulrasaq Musa, and others stole a big air conditioner from M.K.O. Stadium in Kuto, Abeokuta. We nabbed them with a phone and keys, and Ibara Police took over.
However, we experienced a dark moment in Kere, Ewekoro. On the 21st, at 2:35 a.m., our team caught Adelani Oriyomi digging up a grave. He held a human skull, likely for rituals. We handed him to Obada Oko Police for prosecution. This incident is a sign of the strange dangers we face.
Similarly, on the 31st, in Olosun, we arrested 64-year-old Akintunde Idowu for defiling his 11-year-old stepdaughter, Oyelami Arafa. Itele Police now handles his case, pushing for justice.
Theft was common that month, but these cases hit particularly hard. They show why we must never relent in our fight against crime.

February came with its own bigger challenges but we will hint you with the most notable of them.
On the 1st, a truck crashed into a tricycle at Idedo, Atan Ota, killing four. We handed the truck driver and his motor-boys to Obasanjo Police, while praying for the repose of the souls that were lost.
On the 13th, our officers stopped four (4) illegal immigrants; Dorooumouna Brosia, 23, and three others from Cameroon and Chad at Lafenwa, Abeokuta. They carried phones and bags. The Nigeria Immigration Service has them now, keeping our borders safe.
On the 16th, followed by a tip, we joined the police and immigration service to raid Olambe town, where we arrested 560 foreigners running an online fraud scheme. Ajuwon Police now investigate them, a huge win for Ogun State and its people.
Additionally, we rescued 16-year-old Olabode Boluwatife in Ago-Iwoye on the 17th of February. Her own mother, Mrs. Aremu Sakirat, and two others; Samuel Mary and Ogunlaja Ronke, tried to traffic her. The NSCDC in Ago-Iwoye holds them for prosecution.
That same day, we helped clear out many illegal immigrants from Olambe’s Ten Ten area, and officers of the Police Headquarters in Eleweran took charge.
As earlier stated, February tested us in a lot of ways, but we stood strong.

March raised the stakes for us, as just on the 1st, we arrested Isah Aliboro, a 38-year-old ex-convict, for burglary in Ayedun Quarters, Idiroko. He had stolen phones and scissors, with which he tore through nets. Idiroko Police handle his case now.
On the 5th, we nabbed 23-year-old Godwin Monday stealing a pig from Ikereku’s Piggy Farm. He decided to roll in the mud with pigs, and Lafenwa Police are holding him for prosecution now. A smaller case, but still important.
On the 10th, in Olambe, we caught 48-year-old Femi Aluko defiling 10-year-old Oyewo Elizabeth. Ajuwon Police have him now, seeking justice for his victim. Another case of defilement in just over a month.
On the 20th, in Ita Balogun, Ago-Oko, Abeokuta, we chased down four robbers; Hassan Ibrahim, Gbenga Bolanle, Sunday Kazeem, and Azeez Tunde. From them, we recovered phones, a watch, and chains. We stopped their night of crime and handed them over to Oke-Itoku police.
See, in March, theft particularly kept us busy. From iron rods to phones and aluminum cables. These crimes, our arrest of the perpetrators, and how we have since handled them show we won’t back down from keeping our streets safe and free of crime.

You, our good people, make this possible. Our team spotted that skull miner in Kere, but your watchfulness guides us. A tip led to those 560 fraudsters in Olambe. On February 11, you helped us catch Taiye Adebayo, a cultist terrorizing Ibefun. Ibefun Police have him now. We ask you to lock your doors, avoid night trips on Lagos-Ibadan, and warn your kids about cultism. It helps. Imagine watch groups in every street or community, spotting odd trucks in Ilaro or strange crowds in Ota. We’ll support you, let’s do it together.
The Ogun State government, led by His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, backs us fully. Tax-payer money buys (and fuels) our vehicles and radios, letting us patrol from Idiroko to Sagamu. We are thankful for the government. But crime grows; ritualists, traffickers, armed gangs. We know the government will keep helping, just like you do.
This is our fight together. From January to March, 2025 has shown us that crime doesn’t stop, neither can we. Whether it’s dawn in Ijebu or midnight in Ado-Odo, we’re here, we’ve always been.
On behalf of the State Commander, Commander Soji Ganzallo and all of the So-Safe Corps, thank you for your trust and help.
Let’s keep standing strong! Stay vigilant, day and night!
