Press Release – Wednesday, 13th August 2025

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has intensified its fight against crime, leading to the arrest of seven suspects in connection with the theft of a generator and other valuable items during a night operation in the Agbara/Igbesa axis of the state.

The State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this in a statement issued through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf. He attributed the successful operation to the Corps’ increased patrols across all commands, a measure he directed to boost security presence and deter criminal activity in Ogun State.

The incident took place in the early hours of Monday, 11th August 2025, when a patrol team led by Assistant Commander Adebesin, attached to the Director of Liaison of Corps, was on routine patrol along Ajibade Road, off Korogboji Junction, Agbara/Igbesa. At about 3:30 a.m., the operatives noticed suspicious movements near the perimeter fence of a company whose name remains undisclosed. Realising the likelihood of multiple perpetrators and the potential danger, the officers promptly called for reinforcement to ensure the operation could be carried out without casualties.

Before backup could arrive, the suspects had already fled with several items belonging to the company. The operatives immediately pursued them and, by 5:00 a.m., successfully tracked them to a nearby location where they were apprehended. Those arrested were identified as Ibrahim Umar, Ibrahim Kalid, Aliu Abdullahi, and Abdulbakar Mohammed, all from Kaduna State; Rasheed Ibrahim and Sabiana from Kano State; and Abdullahi Ibrahim from Gombe State.

A search of the location led to the recovery of a generator and a grinding machine stolen from the company, along with two motorcycles; one without a number plate and the other marked PKA-147 VM, suspected to be proceeds from previous crimes. However, a 30-litre container of diesel and a standing scale, also stolen during the incident, were yet to be recovered as of the time of this report.

Commander Ganzallo confirmed that the suspects and the recovered items have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Agbara Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and prosecution. He commended the vigilance and professionalism of the officers involved, noting that the Corps remains unwavering in its mission to safeguard lives and property across Ogun State.

“This operation is a clear demonstration of our resolve to ensure that criminals have no safe haven within the state,” he stated. “We will continue to strengthen our patrol strategies and respond swiftly to security threats to protect the people of Ogun.”
