The operation was conducted following credible intelligence on suspicious activities behind the Central Mosque area, locally known as Zanga, in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area.
The suspect, Usman Abdullahi, 29, a resident of Zanga, was apprehended and subjected to a thorough search. Recovered from his possession were; a locally-made pistol, a waist charm suspected to be for spiritual protection, a knife, a sparkler (explosive/firework), and substances suspected to be narcotics
According to Commander Ganzallo, preliminary interrogation revealed that the firearm allegedly belongs to one “Basiru,” whose whereabouts are yet to be determined. The suspect also admitted to engaging in the sale of illicit drugs.
The suspect and all recovered items have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Igbeba Area Command, Ijebu-Ode, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
