Ogun State So-Safe Corps – May 2025 Operational Highlights
By Commander Soji Ganzallo, the State Commander, Ogun State So-Safe Corps
June 1, 2025
As we usher in June, I reflect with pride on the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps’ (So-Safe Corps) resolute efforts throughout May 2025. Our operatives responded to 31 diverse incidents, ranging from theft and vandalism to serious crimes like drug trafficking and defilement, underscoring our unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across Ogun State.
Among the month’s highlights was the arrest of a suspected drug dealer, Wasiu Kayode, on May 12 in Eseke, Ijebu, where our officers recovered a firearm and marijuana. The case was promptly transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), showcasing our dedication to combating illicit activities. Another significant operation occurred on May 20 in Ifoyintedo, Idiroko, where we apprehended Ojugbele Faleye for an alleged defilement/rape case, ensuring swift transfer to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.

Our operatives also tackled property crimes with precision. On May 7, Daniel Olaitan and Adetona Sodeeq were arrested for alleged stealing at Ikolaje Primary School, Idiroko, with recovered items including a power bank, hammer, and school bags. On May 20, Samuel Aina Timothy was detained for vandalizing power installations in Isaku Community, Agbara, with steel materials and tools seized. These cases, along with others across Itele, Oba, and Abeokuta, were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for thorough investigation and potential prosecution, reflecting our commitment to due process.
Joint operations were a cornerstone of our efforts. On May 10, a collaborative effort along the Isheri Ajuwon highway recovered market goods, while on May 26, our officers worked with the Nigeria Police Force to evacuate illegal occupants from under the Akute and Alagbole bridge. These operations, alongside others in Bode Olude and Obada, demonstrate our synergy with sister agencies in securing public spaces.

Community engagement remained a priority. On May 1, we held a Progressive Stakeholder Security Meeting in Ilogbo and conducted a courtesy visit to the new DPO at Iju Police Division. On May 20, the Oke Odan Youth Council visited our Oke Odan Division, strengthening community ties. These initiatives reinforce public trust and collaboration, vital for effective security.
May also brought challenges. A tragic accident on May 6 in Ikereku, Ikija, Abeokuta, involving Adeagbo Olubowale P.O Opara, was promptly addressed, with the case transferred to Lafenwa Divisional Headquarters. Our officers handled the situation with professionalism, ensuring proper coordination with the Nigeria Police Force.
As we move into June, the So-Safe Corps remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard every corner of Ogun State. We will continue to uphold the highest standards in crime prevention, rapid response, and community partnership. I urge all residents to stay vigilant and support our efforts. Together, we can make Ogun State a beacon of safety, peace, and trust in public security.
